Discrepancy between affidavit, court statement NOT necessarily cause to discredit witness
The discrepancy between statements of the affiant in an affidavit and those made on the witness stand is not necessarily a cause for discrediting a witness. Ex-parte affidavits are generally incomplete, and they do not purport to contain a complete compendium of the details of the event narrated by them. There is no rule that would estop an affiant from making an elaboration of an affidavit during the trial. [G.R. No. 116610. December 2, 1996]
